Basics
This is how sunlight becomes electricity for your home
A photovoltaic system converts sunlight into electrical power. You can use this power directly, store it or – depending on the situation – feed it into the public grid.
How it works
From sunlight to household electricity
Modules and inverters make the sun’s energy usable for electrical devices.
What your system deliversPhotovoltaic modules convert sunlight into direct current. The inverter turns this into alternating current for your household. How much electricity your system produces depends, among other things, on the area, orientation and shading. During planning, your electricity requirements and future consumers such as a heat pump or charging station are also taken into account.
In the household
Use directly
Appliances, heat pump or charging station can use solar power while your system is producing it.
A battery storage system keeps solar power available for times when your system produces little or no electricity.Solar power not used by the owner can be fed into the public grid. The grid operator’s requirements apply in this case.
