BKW museums: experience energy production up close
Anyone who wants to understand how electricity is really generated can get a first-hand insight at BKW’s visitor centres and museums: real facilities, easy-to-understand guided tours, free of charge for school classes at most locations.
The guided tours in the BKW museums are suitable for science lessons and technical excursions from primary school onwards.
Groups and associations
A visit can easily be combined with a day trip in the region and is suitable for different age groups.
Teams and companies
The tours provide access to energy facilities that are not normally open to the public. An ideal setting for further training or a joint team event.
Private groups and families
A visit to a BKW museum is suitable for families as well as private groups. Most locations can easily be combined with an excursion in the region.
Experience energy
Our visitor centres at a glance
BKW operates museums and visitor centres at selected energy sites in Switzerland:
hydroelectric power plants, solar plants, wind farms, nuclear power plants, raft trips.
Each experience offer has its own focus and is suitable for all school levels and target groups. Bookings can be made directly on the respective location page.
Mühleberg Information Centre
Decommissioning of a nuclear power plant
The Mühleberg Information Centre is BKW’s only museum that provides insight into the ongoing decommissioning of a nuclear power plant. This is a unique process in Europe, making questions relating to technology, safety and energy policy tangible.
